2020 Kettmeir Metodo Classico "Athesis" Brut Rosé Alto Adige DOC
ABOUT
Since 1919, Kettmeir has been at the heart of winemaking in Alto Adige in the northeast corner of Italy. The site’s high elevation creates unique conditions for grape cultivation featuring a range of soil types, aspects, and temperatures. These are the raw materials for exceptional sparkling wines, which Kettmeir has been producing since 1964.
WINEMAKING PROCESS
The Pinot Nero grapes are vinified as rosé wine, with short maceration on the skins. The Chardonnay and Pinot Nero are gently pressed and fermented separately at a controlled temperature. In the year after the harvest, once the cuvée has been assembled and the liqueur de tirage has been added, secondary bottle fermentation occurs at a cellar temperature. The wine rests on its lees for an average of 24 months before being disgorged and released.
TASTING NOTES
Pale pink in color with peach reflections and small, long-lasting bubbles. The nose has fruity hints of raspberry and sweet spices wrapped up in lovely yeasty notes. Dynamic yet refined on the palate with an elegant freshness and delicate creaminess, carrying along its lingering scents of forest fruits and aromatic herbs.
ENJOY WITH
Seafood, especially pink-fleshed salmon, prawns, and shrimp. It pairs exceptionally with spicy and lean dishes. Perfect as an aperitif.
